I recently picked up the Networking Essentials Companion Guide v3: Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Networking 100-150 (2nd Edition), and even though I’ve only gone through the first chapter, I can already tell this is going to be my go-to resource for preparing for the Cisco CCST exam.
As someone starting out in networking, I’ve browsed through a lot of materials—some too basic, others too advanced. But this book feels just right.
First Chapter Highlights
What stood out right away is how well-structured and easy to follow the content is. The first chapter lays down the core networking concepts clearly without assuming you’re already an expert. It doesn’t overwhelm—it guides.
Some of the things I appreciated right off the bat:
- Clear learning objectives
- Key terms defined up front
- Real-world examples that actually make sense
- Concept checks and review questions that help reinforce what I read
Why I’m Sticking With It
Even from just one chapter, I can see that this book is built to support both learning and certification success. It’s aligned directly with the CCST 100-150 exam, which means I won’t waste time studying off-track material.
The tone is beginner-friendly, but not oversimplified. It respects where I am in my learning journey—curious, motivated, but still building the foundation.
Final Thought
While I still have the rest of the book to go through, my first impression is a solid one. If the rest of the chapters follow the same clear, practical approach, I’m confident this guide will be the core of my CCST study plan.
One chapter in, and I’m already hooked.
